Programs- Union Community Connections provides a variety of programs for students in Kindergarten through 4th grade.
Kinder Creation- at Kinder Creations your child will learn, develop skills and play in a safe and happy environment. Your child will grow socially and emotionally. Their ability to think, use and recognize language and their fine motor skills will be developed through play, art, dance, music, movement and interacting with others. Most importantly, your child will be learning to become an effective learner as they develop and extend their communication skills, build their self-confidence, learn to be creative, and develop skills that assist them with reading, writing and mathematics.
1st Graders-1st grade program in conjunction with project based learning is a program that will benefit and support students’ knowledge. Your child will grow and develop learning skills through art, dance, music, science, and interacting in new activities. Mostly, your child will be learning to become an effective learner, develop and extend their minds. These projects are inspired and driven by children’s interests and natural curiosities. Project-Based Leaning immerses youth in valuable team-building, problem solving, and community engagement experiences. By going on neighborhood field trips, having special guests and collaborating with community partners, these projects evolve as youth explore the connections between different aspects of the project. Each project culminates in an event that invites participation from families and friends to create an authentic community experience.
2nd Graders- The goal of 2nd grade is to enable students to become independent thinkers, while building and expanding basic skills previously acquired. 2nd grade is a year of highly visible progress in reading and language arts, exploration and discovery of the world. At CC, 2nd graders will work together to solve problems, learn to express their ideas clearly, and learn to appreciate differences. Children will model C.A.R.E.S. through group activities. Art activities are done in a variety of media such as clay sculpture, painting, sketching, and collage. Students work daily on developing physical skills. Activities range from organized games, to hiking through the woods, and playing games with younger students. Computer program for 2nd graders is designed to familiarize students with the computer and keyboard. Writing stories and poems will be part of the computer program, as well as researching skills, and web-surfing within the school permitted websites. We will have loads of fun activities, games and field trips in 2nd grade
3rd and 4th Graders- CC will be packed with exciting activities, team-building games and new programs geared for our 3rd and 4th graders. Programs will be fun and enriching, promoting self-confidence, self- esteem, and responsibility.

Welcome to Community Connections at UES! There is an exciting year awaiting, designed to promote and enhance your child’s growth and development. This very important year promises to be one filled with discovery and joy as your child works and plays in an environment that is warm, safe and challenging.
The structure of daily activities is carefully planned to encourage independence, self confidence and group cooperation through large group, small group and one-on-one participation in a variety of hands-on, interactive experiences. The activities will incorporate instruction and skill reinforcement in reading readiness, mathematics, writing, science and social studies and the arts.
You will notice many changes in our program and structure. Starting this year, we have separate groups for K, 1 and 2. Each group will meet in a classroom and will focus on fun program activities geared to group discoveries. We have been working hard all summer to bring you an amazing year.
I am so looking forward to working together to make this a most successful school year! Please feel free to contact me at school, should you have any questions and/or concerns regarding your child's CC experience.

As the school year comes to a close, our minds and hearts are filled to the brim. It’s been a great year! Together we've learned much and shared experiences that will long remain with us in the years to come. The strength of our community and wholehearted passion of our kids makes Community Connections a wonderful place to be, to learn and discover.
Special thanks to all of you who have contributed in ways small, large and unimaginable! Providing support at the school board meeting, donating food for special events, volunteered at school fundraisers, showing up to support your children, serving on committees, and brainstorming the “what ifs”… supporting our work in countless ways and providing the resources to do what we dream and to know it is beneficial to the children. Thanks for registering your child with CC, for kind notes of inspiration that mean so much, for the reminders and updates on your child’s schedule, for making sure payment is on time and for the countless conversations on the phone. We thank you for all your feedbacks and ideas that shape Union Community Connections. Thank you for providing rich and engaging, well-rounded experiences for your children and knowing that education is about joy, wonder and fostering curiosity, along with the development of social skills so needed to succeed. For these, and a million other things, we are truly grateful.
To those of you who are leaving us for new places and adventures, we wish you all the best. Congratulations to our very capable 4th and 5th graders who are onto a new stage in their academic career! You've been a gift to us this year and will undoubtedly be a great asset to your new schools.
As we get closer to the end of the year, we will have 2015/2016 registration forms available for Pre- Session, starting in mid-August. We are also taking application for our Community Connections Summer Program.
Until then, enjoy a restful and replenishing summer with your families!
